In a sense, there is only one Portal for the University. But within my.bham there are several “instances”, sets of content that have been put together to provide the most appropriate content for a particular category of user.
Other instances are planned for future development, for example an Alumni Portal. There are also plans to refine the role assigned to each user of the Portal. So, for example, if you are a postgraduate research student in the Physics department, you would not only be able to access general student information and applications, but also content specific to the Graduate School and to the academic department.
